Michael Kelsey may redefine the way you think about the guitar. This inspired performer is constantly finding new and innovative ways to play his instrument, and he plays every inch of it. From lush instrumentals reminiscent of Michael Hedges to Kelsey’s personal percussive stamp and exceptional arranging, his performance brews soul, funk, rock, blues and other genres with a melodic fusion of alternate tunings and unorthodox hand positions to achieve a wholly original sound. A finalist in Guitar Player Magazine’s national competition he is also a winner of Guitar Center’s “Guitarmageddon”. Chosen from among 3,000 entrants the singer-songwriter performed at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads 2004 where he shared the stage with many legendary guitarists. He approaches his performances with a mature appreciation of his instrument’s capabilities and a strong rapport with his audiences.
“There is a five-piece band in my head,” claims multi-instrumentalist Kelsey. “They all have different musical tastes. I hang onto an acoustic guitar and see what happens.”
